EasyJet was unveiled by Stelios Haij-loanou, Greek shipping magnet, in 1995. In 1998, international expansion led to a franchise partner, TEA Switzerland and the creation of hubs in Geneva, Liverpool, Amsterdam, Belfast, Newcastle and Paris, plus a development at London/Gatwick. At the end of 2002 they announced the take-over of rival operator Go. The airline will be the only low-cost operator to operate with Boeing and Airbus in tandem. Easyjet is now one of Europe's leading Low Cost Airlines.
